The reactive uptake of C1ONO2 on liquid sulfuric acid has been measured for size-selected, sub-micron aerosol in the composition range 36-54% H2SO 4 by weight at = 250 K. A comparison with results from studies employing bulk surfaces at similar temperatures and compositions shows no evidence for a dependence of the reaction probability, y, on size. We use this observation to estimate an upper l...

In economies subject to uninsurable idiosyncratic risks, competitive equilibrium allocations are constrained inefficient: reallocations of assets support Pareto superior allocations. This is the case even if the asset market for the allocation of aggregate risks is complete. © 2011 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. JEL classification: D52; D60; H20

We adapt the Clarke–Groves mechanism, characterize the optimal mechanism that maximizes the weighted sum of expected social surplus and expected tax revenue, and show that thesemechanisms generally av...

Few macroeconomic studies exist on the effects of taxes on international trade. Our hypothesis is that higher tax rates raise a country’s production costs, leading to a decrease in exports in the long run. With panel data for 25 OECD countries, we use average effective tax rates on consumption, labor income and capital income to examine their impact on bilateral trade. We find that that all thr...
